It’s about 10 chapters too long-replaying the same stupid fights over and over again. Not once does he explain why he prefers her over her evil sister. Treating her like 💩, ignoring her, trapping her in his penthouse, never bothering to get to know her, and then we suddenly find out he’s been in love with her for years?! Wtf man?! And all the times his dumb, insecure wife throws her evil sister in his face, he never once explains why he finds her superior to that evil witch. And yet, when this witch reaches out to meet up with her sister (FMC), the idiot agrees to see her, and then proceeds to believe every obvious lie her sister tells her. She literally doesn’t have one redeeming quality. Speaking of her evil sister, she’s nothing but horrible to the FMC. Even after affection grows between them, she brings up her stupid sister as if he hasn’t already said a million times before he does. This time Jackson pokes her finger at Lord Byron and Frankenstein. She boldly blazes forth to write highly fresh tales, and Divine Fire is yet again one of these brilliant gems.
Often in Romance, you see books being similar.
She’s constantly comparing herself to her evil sister and finding herself wanting - but she also loves her body? She’s clearly hard of hearing - because every time she insists her husband is really secretly in love with her evil sister and not her - he unequivocally denies it. These tales mark Jackson as one of the most original writers in Paranormal Romance. I liked the first book in the series, but this was…bad. What a complete and utter mess of a story.
